Watercolor House Portraits
You can commission a painting of your own
home, church, shop, or any memorable location to be done in watercolor
to your specifications.
The
artist works primarily from your color photographs, but can also
create a painting from an older black and white photo with additional
information provided by the customer.
An intrinsic part of an original
watercolor house portrait is the artistic interpretation. The artist
can fill in landscaping on new homes, add blooms to flowering plants,
thin out overgrown shrubbery, remove trees, add or subtract seasonal
decorations, or change seasons altogether. The artist can also
de-emphasize neighbors' houses, or remove neighboring houses
completely.
House portraits are priced by size (of
the painting, not the house). Prices include a hand-cut single mat for
the 12x16 size or double mat for the larger sizes, glass, and choice
of frame. Framing and matting options are available, and are listed on
the order form. |

You can expect delivery of your finished
portrait within 12 weeks from receipt of order. Out of town customers
will have their completed house portraits shipped via UPS. Customers
in the Monterey Peninsula area may pick up their completed house portrait at
the artist's studio in Monterey.
Richly textured giclée prints of your
original house portrait may also be ordered -- either matted and
framed or on note cards. Prices are on the order form. |

PHOTOGRAPHS - Ideally, photographs
which are provided by the customer should include the following:
 | The overall view desired in the
finished House Portrait. |
 | Close-up of front door area, with
the storm or screen door open to clearly show front door style and
color (unless you particularly desire that the storm or screen door
be included in the House Portrait). |
 | Close-ups of other details that are
particularly important to you, such as: decorative exterior lamps,
special planters, special windows or window treatment, custom
railings, fences or gates, cupola over the garage, special
decorations or flags. |
 | Other features obscured by trees,
plants, or shadows in the overall view. (IMPORTANT NOTE: The artist
can't paint what the artist can't see.) |
COLORS - Remember that the actual
colors in color photographs vary by film type, processing, and
lighting. Therefore, in addition to your photos, it is important that
you describe colors on the order form in writing.
OLD PHOTO ? If ideal color photographs
are not available, a beautiful House Portrait can still be completed
if sufficient written detail is provided by the customer.
DETAILS - Please note: The degree of
detail possible in your finished painting may be limited due to the
size of the house and the overall size of the House Portrait you
order.
The original Watercolor House Portrait
you commission carries the following guarantee:
 | Your painting will be executed
personally and exclusively by the artist represented. |
 | Your painting will reflect the
quality of workmanship and archival materials of the samples
exhibited. |
 | Artistic interpretation is part of
the charm of a Watercolor House Portrait. Your painting will be
reasonably accurate within the limitations of the information you
provide. Substantial likeness, not photographic accuracy, is the
primary goal of the watercolor artist. |
 | Should the painting delivered not
meet the standards and terms specified in this Quality Guarantee,
the purchase price (less 20% materials & handling charges) will be
refunded upon return of painting to the artist. |
REPRODUCTION RIGHTS RESERVED
 | Reproduction rights are retained by
the artist unless such rights are specified, compensated, and
assigned by the artist in writing. |
